The Ugly Truth
A girlfriend of mine came over and said “I want you to show me how to start a business and make money on the internet, but I have to be on the other side of town in an hour”.
I remember laughing out loud saying “yeah right”.
There is an ugly truth online that is not being shared with the masses.
This is what I told her and I hope it can help you.
First let’s define what we know about online marketing.
What is Internet/Online Marketing?
According to Wikipedia internet marketing is also referred to as i-marketing, web-marketing, online-marketing, or e-Marketing, is the marketing of products or services over the Internet.
Simple huh? Just selling stuff, either yours, theirs or a combination of both. Here is the ugly truth online:
Ugly Truth 1
Internet marketing is a skill that must be learned and it takes time.
Most people can learn it in 6 months – 2 years or more.
Actually it took me nearly 2 years because I didn’t know what I didn’t know and I got caught up in buying every training package I could find to help me.
After that I got overwhelmed with too much information.
Looking back a better approach would be to get some coaching first.
This can shorten your learning time.
Ugly Truth #2
YOU and only YOU will make it work. No one is going to do the work for you to build a business unless you outsource a lot of it.
Even with outsourcing you have to know what’s needed to make a profit.
Ugly Truth #3
YOU will have to talk to people. Most people actually believe they can come online and in a matter of a few months make a lot of money without ever building a relationship with people.
Well, there are some expert direct response marketers who can do that…but let’s not fool ourselves here.
You will have to build relationships with people and help them because nobody gives you their money unless you do.
Money only comes from people and no one will give you theirs unless they know you, they like you and they trust you.
By the time I shared all this with my girl, it’s was of course time for her to go to the other side of town.
So she did what most people do who see the magic of internet marketing but is not really interested in the work. She left.
Using internet marketing to build a business in your niche market requires the work of a champion.
I define a champion as someone who is willing to do whatever it takes ( of course legally, morally and ethically) to succeed at the level of their desire.
If that’s you then an online business can work for you. It does takes time, knowledge, relationships and action to do it right.
Are you a champion?
If you are then stay connected with another champion right here.
